Brew belt?

Anyone tried this thing? My basement is a little too cold in the winter but it doesn't look like it would work. Any thoughts???

They work fine, if you only need an extra 10-15 degrees. Wrap a blanket around it, if necessary.

My basement is too cool as well and the belt works just fine.

I use the belt in my basement to warm my brew up 4-5 degrees as it normally sits at 63-64 degrees which may be cool for some ale yeasts.

How do I only do 5 degrees with the belt you may ask (as others have overheated their brew from what I've read)? Well, I've attached it to one of those household light timers. I cycle it on an hour, off an hour (sometimes off 2-3 hours during the daytime), and it seems to not overheat my brew...

Seems like a good solution to me as the belt will otherwise give you X+10 degrees or whatever. This thing really needs some kind of thermostat to be awesome, but it will work for $17.

I have two that I no longer use. I find that my ales brewed at 64f come out really well.
I haven't used a belt in over 2 years. I really should sell them to some suck.. oops
do someone need a couple of brew belts?

I want to get one, just to ferment ales in my kitchen. My kitchen is way too cold in the winter. You can't use them with a carboy, though, can you? I'd love something for secondary. I do my primary in a bucket, but secondary in either glass or a better bottle.
