Bought First Kit...Any good ideas for easy first batch?

Thanks to all of you who have responded and posted on my earlier posts. I have finally bought my starter kit, as was advertized on this site from Lable Peelers.

I am excited and should get it in a week. Soooooo..... My question is, does anyone have a good recipe or ingredient kit that I should buy/use for my first batch?? Something easy. This kit did come with an extra carboy for secondary, but I may use that carboy (as prime one is the Better Bottle) for the primary and just not so a secodary (to keep it simple the first time).

Any suggestions or ideas? Anything helps, thank you.

Welcome to the fun JDube. For your first batch, I always like to remind people to THINK SIMPLE. Simple extract kit, nothing too expensive, nothing over the top, nothing too expensive. Brewmasters Warehouse has this one for sale. For that price, you can't miss.

^^ This. Home brewing is a pretty complicated process until you've got your head around it, and there'll be enough to worry about on your first brew without wanting to go all out. As you get more into it, things will come naturally, and there's always new things to learn and experiment with.

Just make a full extract kit, it's basically ready hopped malt so you just have to boil it. You'll get used to sanitizing, racking, the fermentation process etc, and probably most importantly, the result will be a good beer that YOU made, and you'll be very chuffed with yourself. The temptation to get into hop schedules, mashing, fruit additions etc might seem appealing, but walk before you run. Finishing your first beer quickly and having it ready to drink will get you thirsty (sorry) for more, and you can start looking into new stuff then. At least, that's the way I'd go about it - extract kits are cheap as hell too

Just pick whatever you like, they all taste good! My first beer was a Bitter extract kit, and it was lovely. You can choose an Ale, Lager, Stout, Bitter, anything!

Oh and, avoid cider kits, they suck!
