I remember someone somewhere telling me not to use plastic bottles, like coke or water bottles, for my home brews. I think this comes from the twist off caps more than anything, but I can't really find any information about it.

I'm happy sticking with glass bottles but I think the wife wants to switch to plastic for easier sharing with friends. What is your guys general consensus?
 
You can get replacement caps at the homebrew store. I've bottled some of my latest batch into plastic bottles so I can easily take them camping without worrying about breakage. I also bottled into 12 oz. glass and into a couple of carboys.
