Boil Bittering Hops for 75 Minutes?

I'm about to see what happens when I ferment a lager at high temperature in an All Rounder with 34/70.

I haven't made this beer in 16 years. The original recipe says I boiled Nugget hops for 75 minutes. Is there any conceivable reason why that would be helpful? I feel like cutting it to an hour.

Perhaps you had overshot on water volume and boiled longer to get closer to target volume and OG?
Substituted nugget in place of a higher AA% hop?
Had a limited quantity of hops and boiled longer to gain more IBU?
Got drunk during the mash and took a nap during the boil?

Yeah, I don't see a big reason to boil them for 75 mins unless you really want that nap.

My guess is maybe you were being extra sure you got rid of DMS...

That makes sense too. Didn't think of that since I've always still only boiled pilsner malt for 60m with no issues.

I must have had some reason, but I can't find any reason to keep doing it.

Boiling an extra 15 minutes (75 vs. 60) will add a few IBUs. Maybe that's what the recipe intended. It does make a slight difference when alpha acid is in the teens.
