hey all, just wondering what other kinds of hops i can use in a blue moon clone. i have hallertau, citra, magnum, northern brewer, and cascade in bulk and would rather not buy ekg like BM's recipe goes.

SWMBO wants it to be like blue moon so i want to get it close...northern brewer or hallertau be a good substititute? or should i suck it up and buy the one oz of ekg? thanks!

I made a similiar beer with hallertau. It works just fine for a beer like that. I think you'd probably enjoy it more.

hallertau is a pretty traditional hop for hefeweizen and i think northern brewer would work great as well. i honestly think a little cascade would add a nice citrusy note if late hopped.

doesn't matter. just don't use chinook. I recommend cascade because it is cheap and gets very citrusy after a few weeks in the bottle.
I would use cascade but not sure if the cascade i got is the argentinian cascade...i saw someone say they smelled/tasted like lemon pledge....dont want to ruin this beer haha
