Does the open end of the blowoff hose need to be immersed in anything other than an empty bucket? I wasn't sure if it's good practice to bubble it through water or leave it exposed since positive CO2 pressure won't begin until fermentation begins.

When I am ready to transfer to my carboy, I'll dump the sanitizer into my blowoff container.

Sometimes I have just used boiled, then cooled, water.
