My wife brought home a bottle of Crosby & Baker blackberry flavoring. The only directions on it say to add it after fermentation. Does it matter when exactly you add it? Could you do it right before bottling? What about when you rack to secondary? Do you just pour it in or should it be stirred in a little? She really wants me to add it to a porter we have in secondary.

I'd probably add it to secondary in case there are any fermentable sugars in there, especially if you plan on bottling.

Yeah I guess it just depends on what kind of flavoring/extract it is. If it's a syrup, do it in primary or secondary. If it's purely an extract, any time is fine but the later the better, so you don't lose any in the yeast/trub.
