I'm thinking of brewing a Black IPA and have come up with this recipe. Any input would be helpful.

2.5 lbs. Maris Otter
.5 lbs. Rye
.5 lbs. Crystal 60 L
6oz. Midnight Wheat
4oz. Chocolate Malt

6.5 lbs. Extra Pale LME

I'm still not sure of the hopping schedule but I'm thinking of making it a single hop with Amarillo pellets.

Chocolate is fine. I used it in my Black IPA and its one of my best beers to date.
This is for a 10 gallon batch but the roasted grain percentages give you an idea. Black Prinze and Midnight Wheat are similar in what they lend as far as roastiness with the Wheat being slightly roastier in larger percentages.

18.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 63.72 %
2.00 lb Black Prinze (500.0 SRM) Grain 7.08 %
2.00 lb Munich Malt (9.0 SRM) Grain 7.08 %
2.00 lb White Wheat Malt (2.4 SRM) Grain 7.08 %
1.00 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 20L (20.0 SRM) Grain 3.54 %
1.00 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L (40.0 SRM) Grain 3.54 %
0.75 lb Chocolate Malt (450.0 SRM) Grain 2.65 %
