2nd year plants, and I have noticed that there seems to be a problem with the bines falling off near their branches, possibly rotting off. The rest of the bine itself appears to be in ok condition until after it falls off.

Even the main bine (approx 8 ft) on one of my plants succumbed to this early death.

Is this a known issue? perhaps some sort of infection or bug/animal attack?

Weather has been pretty wet here in Portland, OR but the plants have seen some sun.

Ill try to get pics and variety of the worse affected plants when I get a chance.

If it was an infection, you would see the bine that was about to fall off starting to wilt or turn yellow. Botrytis infections can cause that kind of damage, but would not be likely outdoors this time of year.

What are the chances that deer/other large animals are rubbing agaisnt the plants? Are the plants particularly stressed out for any reason?
