We all know that you should not use a carboy brush on a better bottle. Is there anything else that we add during fermenting that could be a scratch risk?

I ask because I tossed a few cinnamon sticks into the fermenter the other day. Granted it's no wire brush, but I would think this could cause a scratch.

If you scrub em real hard against the better bottle, then maybe. Otherwise, they aren't going to scratch anything; PET is pretty slick when wet anyways. Brushes are the main worry.

I suppose you are right. It could still perhaps make a minor dent when you are dropping them in, but then again that's a bit different from a scratch. The dent would be able to get sanitized.
