I'm thinking of getting a silicone loaf pan to hold my candi sugar as it cools. I'm thinking of something similar to this: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Smartware-Silicone-Bakeware-Terracotta-Loaf-Pan-and-Storage-Lid/6187366/product.html?cid=202290&kid=9553000357392&track=pspla&kw={keyword}&adtype=pla

Its 9 inches long x 5 inches wide x 4 inches high

Do you think this would hold 5 lbs of candi sugar?

I know its a lot of sugar, but it seems to me, it takes just as much time to make 1 lb as it does 5 lbs. so you might as well make the 5 lbs of it.

I have a muffin pan (12) that can hold about 2.5#, so I bet yours can hold at least 5.

My only concern would be that it would take a longer time for it to cool, with it being so tall (and, of course, the silicone would act as an insulator). Not sure if that matters to you or not. I usually do about 2# at a time, and use a half sheet baking pan with a Silpat mat to cool it. I could probably fit 4# on the half sheet pan.
