Im working on getting together with a friend of mine who is a chef to do a beer and food dinner for a few friends. Im gonna stick with the classics such as oysters and stout.

I recently got a great deal on some Orval and definitely want to include that beer on the menu. I've had it once with lamb shanks with a demi glaze and it was outstanding.

I would love to hear any suggestions as well as any other pairings that I should check out.

Depends on how old it is. It is either a pretty hoppy beer or a pretty bretty beer.

I know Orval's monk have a recipe on onion soup with Orval in it. I don't know it. Nevertheless, I think an Orval-based onion soup would be great. Last week, I had a Maudite-based onion soup and it was excellent.

Or a simple onion soup with an Orval on the side would be good too.
