Hi folks, I just snagged a deal on a 42 qt turkey fryer pot and burner on craigslist for $25. I'm very stoked cause now I can do 10 gallon batches (already have one burner ans a 52 qt kettle).

The only problem I have is the new/used pot needs a bit of cleaning to remove old oil residue. What's my best course of action?

It's not too bad but I want to start with a fresh pot. It's aluminum, so I'm hesitant to use PBW.

Thanks!

If it was me I'd scour it with dish detergent, hot water, and a scotchbrite pad. Then I'd boil water in it for an hour to re-oxidize the aluminum...
