Home for the week, kids have plenty of new toys to play with, I even let SWMBO sleep in for three days running.
My daughter gave me a pound of UK fuggles for the holiday!
I'm in SE Michigan, south of Ann Arbor, and it hit 60 at my house yesterday!
Gotta brew!
Made 10 gallons of a fuggle based pale ale:
-- Prepare Ingredients for Mash
Amount Item Type
15 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) UK (3.0 SRM) Grain
3 lbs Vienna Malt (3.5 SRM) Grain
1 lbs Caramel/Crystal Malt - 20L (20.0 SRM) Grain
1.0 oz Chocolate Malt (450.0 SRM) Grain
2 min Mash Ingredients
Mash In: Add 5.91 gal of water at 176.5 F
60 min - Hold mash at 154.0 F for 60 min
-- Sparge with 10.29 gal of 168.0 F water.
-- Add water to achieve boil volume of 13.12 gal
-- Estimated Pre-boil Gravity is: 1.040 SG with all grains/extracts added
Boil for 60 min Boil Ingredients
Boil Amount Item Type
60 min 2.00 oz Fuggles [4.50 %] (60 min) Hops
15 min 2.00 oz Fuggles [4.50 %] (15 min) Hops
15 min 2.10 items Whirlfloc Tablet (Boil 15.0 min) Misc
-- Cool wort to fermentation temperature
-- Add water (as needed) to achieve volume of 10.50 gal
-- Siphon wort to primary fermenter and aerate wort.
-- Add Ingredients to Fermenter
Amount Item Type
1 Pkgs Nottingham (Danstar #-) Yeast-Ale
1 Pkgs Safale US-05 Chico (Fermentis #US-05 Chico) Yeast-Ale
I hit my numbers, with a overall efficiency of 76%
I split into two better bottles, one with Nottingham, the other with US-05.
I would have preferred to us s-04, but alas, I had none.......
I even got down the high up lights off of my garage, and condensed all the holiday packaging material.
(If I ever get my hands on the bleeping engineer who invented blister packaging, I'm gonna open him up with a pair of dull scissors!):rockin:
