I embedded this question in another post but that got me really curious.
At the MoreBeer web site in the section of Candy Syrups the TIP tab goes to this cat that says he adds the syrup directly to the fermenter bucket to promote higher gravity finish and provide superior yeastie food. The first ting that occurs to me is "What about contamination"?
Is this a common practice? And am I bacteria phobe?
 
I'm pretty sure the inside of the candy syrup container is sterile but, why take the chance? ;) I would think that adding that heavy syrup to your fermenting bucket would make it sink right to the bottom. I would want an even, thorough mixture, which is what adding it to the boil would give me...
