There is this really cool feature on http://www.ehow.com/list_7562418_sound-proofing-methods.html where you punch in what grains, Adjuncts, Hops and yeast you want to use and it will tell you how much to use of each. I'll give you an example below and compare it to my own recipe using guidelines per specialty malt and looking at other recipes to come up with my own.

12.44 lbs 2-Row Brewers Malt; Briess info
1.42 lbs Roast Barley; Crisp info
0.69 lbs Chocolate; Crisp info
0.93 lbs Pale Wheat Malt; Weyermann info
0.86 lbs Barley Flaked info
1.8 oz Northern Brewer (Pellets, 8 %AA) boiled 60 min. info
Yeast : White Labs WLP004 Irish Stout info

Original Gravity 1.050
Terminal Gravity 1.011
Color 32.27 °SRM
Bitterness 37.9 IBU
Alcohol (%volume) 4.3 %


My recipe using Beet Tools software


15 lb (71.4%) 2-Row Brewers Malt; Briess
2.0 lb (9.5%) Roast Barley; Crisp
2.0 lb (9.5%) Barley Flaked
1.0 lb (4.8%) Chocolate; Crisp
1.0 lb (4.8%) Pale Wheat Malt; Weyermann
2.0 oz (50.0%) East Kent Goldings (5.0%) - added during boil, boiled 60 m
2.0 oz (50.0%) East Kent Goldings (5.0%) - added during boil, boiled 30 m
1.0 ea White Labs WLP004 Irish Stout

Terminal Gravity: 1.012
Color: 37.51 SRM
Alcohol: 4.88%
Bitterness: 30.5


I'm thinking I should follow the first suggestion huh.

Oh this is for 10 gallons.
