beer spots in vegas?

I will be going to vegas this weekend and was wondering if there were any good brewpubs or good places to go for beer alone the strip. I'm sure the best places are not onlong the strip, but I'll be limited to that area due to the other people involved.

If you are on the strip, go into the mall attached to Planet Hollywood. There's a little "bar" stand in there called "Sin City Brewery". He use to run around in the Phoenix beer market, working for various places here. He's a pretty nice guy, and he's living his dream. Tell him you homebrew and he'll talk to you about anything - try it out and let me know what you think of his brews.

Other than that, I can't say I know any other place - I honestly avoid Vegas like a plague unless SWMBO drags me there.

Also, check out Pour 24 and Nine Fine Irishmen in the New York New York casino.

If you can get a few blocks off the strip, you could try the Hofbrauhaus.

Not alot of Craft brewer friendly sites along the strip, however.. along with what's already been mentioned.. stop in at Ellis Island Casino & Brewery‎ (flamingo & Koval) just 2 blocks east of the actuall strip... Ask to talk to the brewmaster.. awsome guy.. 4th generation brewmaster. Off the strip tho.. there are TONS more choices

Well, I just spent the last 3 years of my life living in the City of Sin before returning to my favorite city...Seattle...Here's my top 6 spots (in no paticular order)...

1. Nine Fine Irishmen (NYNY) ...A great but pricey Irish Pub, good music, good food, typical Irish Pub beers (Guiness, Bass, etc..)

2. Freakin Frog... This place has the best beer selection in all of Vegas. Not to mention one of the largest whiskey/scotch collections in the country. You do have to wonder off the strip a litte for this hole in the wall bar by the college. Just grab a cab and have him take you, it's across the street from the University (and an In & Out Burger). Not an expensive cab fare by any means...

The guy who runs this place use to be a big wine guy for Wynn when he was at the Belaggio and he now has runs this place. Infact,the bar itself was even built from the wood boxes wine is transported in but then he changed the bar to focus on beer not wine. They have a huge selection of taps and bottles from around the world (ask to see their beer cellars, they have two)...the bartenders all know there stuff and are you are sure to get a great beer...

3. Crown & Anchor...Just a short walk around the corner from the Freakin Frog (ask the Frog's bartenders for directions), it a hole in the wall English pub with darts, pool and around 50+ taps.

4. The Monte Carlo also has a brewpub restaurant on property, I rememeber being fond of their pale & red ales and the hefe. Typical sports bar theme but above avg. beer.

5. Main Street Casino (or somthing like that) also has a great brew pub. Some of their beers have even placed at GABF back in the day.

6. Yard House...You may have these in So. Cal...they have 100+ taps...good food and decor...located in the strip mall just south of the Mandalay Bay Casino...nice place to walk around and chill after a few beers...

As for Sin City Brewing, I was never really a big fan. Most casinos on the strip will have a Sin City Tap in at least one of their bars, so don't need go to their store to give it a try but like I said, I never really fell in love with their stuff. "Boring" and "Haven't I had this before" where a few of the thoughts that came to mind when I tasted their brew.

How did I forget about the Hofbrauhaus....that place is a blast...huge beers served in those traditional Greman glass mugs...great food, decor, live band...It's right across the street from the Hard Rock Casino (which is a great place to party the night away at, plus the pool party Rehab is sick)...If you haven't been to the Hofbrauhaus, it's totally worth checking out

No more.. They don't brew on sight anymore.. Just commercial versions of plain.. boring beers.. Not even 'micro brews' - Last time I was there Sam Adams was the best I could get.. And the food was bad.. I was dissapointed, as I too remembered there brews.. And they were good..


Margaritaville right next to O'shays (watch out for the midget!) was fun, but not really a beer joint..

There is a brew pub in old Vegas that was good when swmbo and I were there. I think it's Main St. pub and Brewing. Talleymonster needs to jump in on this.

I agree. I read an old review of this place and was terribly disappointed when we got there. The best part of the time there was them screwing up our order and we got half off.

On the west side of town there is the Chicago Brewing Co.
Brewsmith is in town this week and I took him there and we had a great time. We tried several of their beers and ate some killer calzones.


Agreed, Monte Carlo brewpub sucks. They aren't even a brewery. They do have a little better selection than previously stated. Last time I was there I had Stone IPA. They actually had the whole line of Stones more common beers.


And based on Yuri's assessment of the Hofbrauhaus, personally I'm in no real hurry to go there.

Thanks for all the suggestions! We are planning on going to Hofbrauhaus. I'm hopping to get the otheres to venture out a bit, as I wanted to stop by the Chicago Brewering co and take advantage of the AHA discount and sample some of their brews, but we'll see how well I can convince them. It's funny, everyone I'm going with is into beer (the same people I go to all the beerfests with etc), yet they value convenience over quality. At least I know that no one will be ordering any BMC this weekend. I'll let you all know where we end up and how the beer is.

Sorry Padstack31.I went to Vegas in January and went over to the Monte Carlo brewpub.....It was GONE...I was devastated.They made some great beers and it was a fun place.Now it's......just a bar.

That sucks I went to the Monte Carlo a few years ago had some great ribs and some pretty good beer in one of those really tall beer tower things that they bring to your table and you fill your glass from that. It's a damn shame cause I was gona recommend that place.
