I'm not talking about pint glasses you still from the bar,

I'm talking about mugs with the flip lid cover... I think they are called beer steins

lately through my ventures into different flea markets Ive seen tons of these great beer mugs with the flip top covers. In all different designs and patterns on them... been thinking about starting to collect them...

anyone else here collect them?

also, does the lid provide any benefit? does it keep it carbed longer or something?

I have over 50 of them from Germany. They're pewter lids clled Zinn Deckels.

A bit of interesting German drinking etiquette with ceramic mugs is when they are empty a waitress can't tell if you want a refill or not. Without a lid you just lay the mug on its side. With the lid you leave it open and they'll bring you a fresh one. ;)
