To make a long story short...a restaurant with a lease went under and left in a hurry so-to-speak leaving the property owner to pick up the pieces. Heard from a bartender...who heard from another bartender... that the restaurant had just tapped a 1/2 keg of Southern Tier Pumking Ale their last night. Spoke to the property owner who gave it to me no charge (I offered to pay). I doubt more then a few beers were even poured if that as it was completely full (zero slosh in keg). It is a nice addition to my True GDM26 that I am slowly putting together the pieces to make it 'different'.

I know this is a Home Brew forum but I thought this was cool regardless. I will be brewing come spring when my schedule slows and all the details on my kegerator are completed which if it turns out I will post pictures.

A couple months ago was able to get my GDM26 for $500 which was cleaned up and checked out with a brand new compressor. It is amazing and in the garage as it is a bit loud. Plenty of room for kegs (currently have a 1/2, 1/4, 5# tank, empty ball lock and still a little bit of room left...and that is just the bottom half) and enough for cases of sodas, glasses etc. for the upper shelves. I plan on only running four taps (beer, beer, soda, mixed drink).

:tank:ALL HAIL THE BEER GODS!!!:tank:

Nice score for sure! Though it would take me a loooong time to get through a 1/2 bbl of Pumking. Throw a pumpkin party!

Also, I'll be the first to say it... make sure the empty keg gets back to ST.

:mug:

It is quite a lot of beer and if it were another pumpkin beer I'd almost pass on it but I honestly like Pumking for some reason though with so much of it I may get tired of it (till next year lol). The ABV being at 8.6 and being tapped I suspect about a month ago I am hoping to keep it good for just another 1-2 months which by that time it will most likely be gone...my neighbors know the price I paid on it so they haven't been shy on "assisting" me.

zach - Keeping the keg in my book is stealing and also screws over the person who gave me the keg which would be extremely rude so no worries.

Mind showing us a pic of the fridge? I was thinking of picking one up for storing all my bottles, but can't seem to find a good one cheap enough.

OMG my refrigerator is embarrassing :drunk: right now as I have only had time to throw enough parts in to get a single keg going (single regulator one line out...shameful!). I have seen great deals on restaurant supply auctions which is where I was looking before my friend called me and told me his buddy just wanted to get rid of the one he fixed up.

Just buyer beware on merchandisers (and other refrigerators) you buy regardless of being True, Perlick, etc. as if not careful they can become giant paperweights and not worth fixing. Check the Serial number online at the vendor website for the year and refrigeration type and try to get them to plug it in overnight (probably not possible but worth a shot) to see what the temp is. Best to find one that came directly out of a working restaurant the newer the better but confirm it is from THAT LOT as auction companies tend to "move things about" and it could be a consignment and not actually from that restaurant. Check rasmus.com for auctions as they cover a lot of areas but Google is your friend :) to find others in your region.

I'll take a shot of the refrigerator this week...I need to make time to work on it and complete the dang thing!!!
