If you do the yeast slurry technique in the sticky, is a starter required? Is a stir plate still used with yeast slurry?

Also, for starters, the yeast is able to ferment and expand while still getting spun at the same time?

Concerning the mr.malty calculator concerning slurry, when it says say 100 ml of slurry, is that only considering after extra water was decanted from the mason jar?

I've alwys been dumping my Safale yeast straight in but have been intrigued with what I've read.

If you washed it I would still make a starer, especially if its been sitting for a while. I use slants and step then up, then count under a microscope. I had some slurry that I pitched from a friend, I made a starter.
