Depends on your basement and your equipment. If you can swing it and can afford the equipment and know about electricity then I suggest going electric and using a good vent hood. I went with indoor low pressure burners from Agri-Supply: BURNER CAST LOW PRESSURE MULTI-HOLE 6 - Agri Supply and the low pressure regulator. Mostly because propane was the least amount of cost to get to 5 gallons. I built a dedicated brewing room ... but that is not totally necessary.
So depending on your basement and equipment, and you DIY ability or desire, there are many ways.
