My kit came with 8oz of B-Brite which I used to sanitize all my equipment before my first brew. I let everything soak for 30 min as per directed. Is this a good sanitizer?

No. It is not a sanitizer, but it is a good cleaner.

You will probably be OK on your first brew.
For a sanitizer, you should use Iodophor, Star San or bleach. The first two do not need rinsing, but excess bleach can cause some really evil off flavors in the brew.

Excess of any sanitizers or cleaners can cause off flavors. If bleach is used in the proper proportions it is a fine no rinse santizer.

I've been using iodophor mostly, but recently bought some star san, as I was told it is better at dealing with organic materials left on or in equipment.

Good luck with everything!
