I've been tweaking an APA recipe and have decided on the following:

8.0 lbs 2-row
1.5 lbs Victory
1.0 lbs Vienna
0.5 lbs Crystal 10

1.25 oz Cascade 60mins
1.0 oz Cascade 30 mins
0.25 oz Cascade 15 mins
0.5 oz Cascade 5 mins

Safale-05

Any opinions on adding 0.25 lbs of Aromatic to this recipe? Hell yeah/no, add more/less?

I've brewed this before but with 1.0 lbs Victory and 0.75 oz Cascade at 30 mins. I'm looking for a little malt aroma. Will the extra 1/2 lb of Victory get me there without the Aromatic?

Thanks
Lee

I get more "toasty" from victory than malty.

I'd probably keep the victory malt the same, and add the aromatic malt, if you're looking to increase the malt flavor and aroma.

Yeah, 1.5 lbs of Victory is a lot. Like Yooper, I'd not up it & would instead try adding the Aromatic.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to add the Aromatic and not change the Victory.

i have some aromatic malt but haven't used any yet. can anyone suggest a commercial beer where it's easy to pick it out? i would like to taste/smell an example.
