Hey folks - Brewed up Northern Brewers 1 Gallon White House Honey Porter. My first "jump" into brewing for a year or so. My OG was 1.054 which was a little off the projected of 1.062. Took a reading today at 1.004 !! Ugh - took a sip and it was pretty (really) dry. Missed my final of 1.014? Any hope for this batch? I should have hit about 76% attenuation rather than the staggering 92%

Has fermented at a fairly stable 65 degrees fahrenheit for 11 days.

Wow. Assuming you didn't use a champagne yeast, did you doublecheck your hydrometer with DH20 at 60* so it's reading correctly? I'm thinking if your OG was low by 8 points, maybe your FG is as well? We can hope it's that simple...........

Extract, PM, or AG?

What yeast?

Steeping grains and mesh bag
Steep approx. 10 minutes - Brew Day, step 2
- 1 lb. Briess Gold dry malt extract
Boil for 45 minutes - Brew Day, step 4
- 3.5 grams Chinook hops
Boil for 45 minutes - Brew Day, step 4
- 3.5 grams German Hallertau hops
Add at end of boil - Brew Day, step 4
- 2 oz Ames Farm Single Source Honey
Add at end of boil - Brew Day, step 4
- Danstar Nottingham brewer’s yeast
Add HALF packet

Since extract recipes are pretty much correct with OG,unless you goofed on adding ingredients or missed on your volume into fermenter, then I'll bet your hydrometer is off.
So there's hope that all is well. :mug:

Hmmm - maybe? It tastes pretty dry, but since it is only a gallon, going to wait a day or two and bottle it anyway.

Is there a way to "test" the hydrometer?
