Apfelwein taste

I have read pages and pages about apfelwein in an attempt to figure out what it tastes like. I like all types of hard cider and my favorites are usually very dry, they are more like wine than cider. Can somebody explain what it really tastes like? Maybe an example of another beverage it's similiar to?

My test sample was def. dry. I didn't get much apple flavor, but then again I was tasting while drinking my employers Dry Riesling...Probably not the best time to be tasting.

Mine is 3.5 weeks in bottles. I get a taste very other day and it is evolving, getting smoother. I wished I had carbed it more though
