So, can I spoil the apfelwein by leaving it out in sunlight or anything like that? I know it doesn't have hop oils, so to me, it seems like it shouldn't skunk like beer, but I just want to make sure before I leave it sitting out in the living room.

That's a great question - although I wouldn't really risk it. You could certainly test this by leaving a few in the sun for a while and some in the dark and do a blind taste test and report back with your findings.

Any fruit/alcohol drink will deteriorate in sunlight, also in high temperatures. The best storage is a dark(ish) place at 60-65 degrees. In bright light or high temperatures your wine will deteriorate faster so you will have to drink it faster, then your liver will deteriorate.

Yeah, I always put a hoodie over my beer when it ferments, but the reason I did is because I know it will skunk otherwise. I just kinda wanted to see the apfelwein while it fermented.
