Hey all this is my first post/thread/question and first of all would like to thank everyone for the help you've all been over the last while. cheers.
I decided to brew my first non kit based extract brew, so i went for a trip to a not-so-LHBS (my LHBS is mostly kits). After some wondering around in awe, i decided to go for an APA and got:
A big bag of Light DME.
300g (0.66lb) crystal malt~70L
40g (1.4oz) Simcoe
40g (1.4oz) Amarillo
50g (1.8oz) Cascade
Now i have all these ingredients, im not sure what an appropriate schedule would be, having never actually worked with any of these hops.
Also, I'm thinking that perhaps this might not have enough sweet malts to balance all the hops, perhaps i should save some hops for later...?
I don't think i'll be able to get my hands on any more specialty grains anytime soon, but my LHBS will probably have cans of amber LME.
Any and all help would be appreciated.
