My turkey fryer came with one of these.... anyone using it when adding their whole-leaf hops vs. the paint bags or other items? This seems simple and requires zero dollars/effort from a DIY perspective. Any drawbacks that I am not seeing?

I have never tried but but I would assume the holes are too big, especially when using pellets.

Not referencing pellets, more concerned with cones and whole leaf...

I think the holes would be too big, even for whole hops. But give it shot, you certainly won't ruin anything by trying it out.

Holes would still be too big. The cones tend to break apart during a vigorous boil and would just pass through the holes without getting blocked.

Neat idea though.

You could just use it to hold your hop bags tho, I see that working fine.
