Hey guys just wondering about this sanitizer. Picked it up at Smart & Final it was $10 a gallon. It’s active ingredient is Alkyl which I’m not familiar with but a good price.

This product: Sani-Cide FSC.
Food Surface Contact Sanitizer (no rinse).

An EPA registered sanitizer designed primarily for surfaces that have contact with food where sanitization is of prime importance. Unlike most disinfectants and sanitizers used in these areas, Sani-Cide FSC DOES NOT require rinsing, even after use on a food contact surface, making it the optimum sanitizer when time is premium. Ideal for food prep areas, beverage dispensing equipment and potable water system components.
  • Kills 99.999% of bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, E.coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella (typhi) enterica and Shigella dysenteriae
  • Contains no phosphorus
  • Contains no phosphorus
  • No rinsing required
  • Eliminates odors without leaving grit or soap scum
  • Ideal for sanitization of potable water connections, hoses & faucets
  • Packaging: quart, gallon, 55 gallon
Contains no Phosphorus (twice)!

Listing those specific bactericidal properties, Sani-Cide Seems to be targeted to the food and beverage industry.

Starsan:
Professional-grade soaking sanitizer that is non-rinsing and non-staining.
  • Broad Spectrum Bactericide and Fungicide.
  • No Rinse Requirement When Used at 300 ppm
Starsan (or Iodine based sanitizers) is what's recommended for use in homebrewing. Starsan has no perceptual taste or odor once mixed, easy to use, and simply stated: It works! Even suckback or accidentally leaving a quart in a keg when racking beer into it had no perceptual effects on beer. It contains Phosphoric Acid, also used in many sodas (e.g., Coca-Cola).

A quart of Starsan, at $20-24 (shop around, RiteBrew has is for $18.50 plus shipping) lasted me 7 years. A working solution (1 oz per 5 gallons) remains active for weeks, months even.
