Hey all, Not home brewing yet but a ? about using a 30 qt aluminum pot. I have used this pot to fry in and will in the future, any problem with using this to brew beer in? Last time I brew beer was just the total extract about 20 years ago. I will try to keep the upfront cost down and then add things like a ss pot doen the road.

Thanks,
Ed

I like to avoid using my brew kettle for anything else, but lots of folks on here have used theirs to boil crab, deep fry, brine a turkey, etc and they haven't had issues. It's just a matter of taste. I'd thing there's always going to be SOME chance that you could introduce a flavor from cooking something else into your beer, but if you clean it well it's not much of an issue.
