It tastes like a dark european macro lager (in a good, clean way). Some nice maltiness from the pils and munich malts, slight caramel taste from the caramunich and a liqorice-plum-chocolate taste from the chocolate malt. I wouldn't change a thing in this recepie!

I thought I'd share it with you. It is based on a classic altbier recepie.

Nice dude. I brewed an alt in Spring which I finished recently. Also my best homebrew so far. I tried it side by side with 1 or 2 commercial offerings and I preferred mine. Mine was Brau Kaisers recipe, also pretty classic recipe. Munich malt with a little carafe for color and German Ale Yeast.

This will definitely go in my regular rotation. It's a style that's overlooked, and a good representation of it is an amazing beer to drink.

Nice man, munich malt as base malt seems interesting. I have never used more than 20% of it..

I will rotate mine aswell. I've brewed a ton of OK homebrews, but nothing has knocked me off my chair like this one. I have tried 1 commercial Altbier and I found that mine was much cleaner and less dirt tasting.

It is sad that Altbiers are overlooked. I want to start a small alt brewery, sort of... :mug:

Sounds like you already have :mug::ban::rockin:

Did a northern altbier last year and its my top 5 beers i have ever made. It wasnt that good when it was young but i love how its aged. IBU's are a bit high at 38 but i can adjust that...

I need to age my beers where I have used chocolate malt. It tends to be more mellow over time.
