About 10 days into my first brew, a pale ale extract kit from the LHBS (Homebrew in Paradise). Due to temps here, I have been fermenting in a water bath. Just took my first gravity reading, it's at 1.011. Will check again in 3 days, and plan to bottle if FG is the same. Of course I had to taste the test jar, and so far so good. Here's a pic with an obligatory Hawaii background!

Thanks for the help, looking forward to learning more!

Thanks for the welcome, decided to brew up another style of pale ale over the weekend while waiting for the other first one. I guess the addiction is real!

Welcome from CT! I agree with @teddy4xp get involved with a local club or do what I did find some helpful Brewers around the area grab a commercial or HB and just talk about brewing!

Cheers and welcome to the obsession!

No that is not Diamond Head, although it does have a similar shape. It is Koko Head Crater on the eastside of Oahu.

Welcome, I will be visiting Honolulu next summer. My brother in law is stationed out there and we are finally going to make the trip. He also brews.

Took another gravity reading today, no change, so looks like fermenting is done. I will let it go a couple more days, and bottle this weekend.

I was surprised how much of a difference 4 days made since my last reading in regards to clarity and taste. Less bitter and less hazy.

Welcome to the hobby, and the group, from CO :mug:

As the beer ages a little, you will see marked changes.

I too hope to get back to Hawaii next year...hoping for an airfare sale.

well I bottled this past weekend. Everything went pretty smooth, I got twenty 22 oz. bottles and twelve 12 oz. bottles. Room temps are still hot, so bottles are conditioning in a water bath in a cooler.

I started brewing a month ago, figured I would do one batch and see how it goes from there.....and somewhere I made a wrong turn on that plan and now I have a pipeline!

Paradise Pale Ale in bottles, Pineapple Ale in the secondary, and an oatmeal stout in the primary.

And I still haven't even got to try my first bottled batch! damn this hobby! :)

Finally got to taste my first home brew over the weekend and it tasted great! And I got some good carbonation.
