I am wondering how to accurately calculate the alcohol content of my batch.

Take your (SG-FG)*131

+1 on the previous... and just in case you don't understand the abbreviations. SG is specific gravity (measured with a hydrometer) and FG is final gravity, which is a specific gravity measured when fermentation is complete.
