This is a kind of long story.

I wasn't always a big drinker. Freshman year of college sometimes I felt like the only reason I drank was because other people were drinking. Then college ended and I started brewing a lot more. I got a barley crusher and I pretty much brew whenever I feel like it, which is all the time. Consequently, I have beer on hand all the time. Now I drink all the time. Like almost every day.

Basically, in my free time I'd rather have a beer in my hand. Obviously, like all of us I love beer. Like many of us who brew a lot, I have too much beer on hand. I've been brewing for a while and have it down pretty well, so I always have what I want. Before I could only buy a nice Chimay White every so often; now I can drink a beer better than that any time I want. Who cares? I've got a dozen or more bottles of it, and dozens of other bottles.

My excessive drinking has not severely impacted anything in life so far. I am concerned about my health. I'm thin and I eat well and exercise, but what am I doing to myself? Am I slowly pickling myself? Is my liver going to be OK? Obviously what I am doing is probably not the healthiest choice. However, I'm otherwise a healthy guy, and I really enjoy beer. I've looked this up but I can't get a straight answer.

Get a blood test, especially if you have insurance. My intake is just slightly higher than the recommended amount (I average about 3 a day), and I once had a blood test with elevated liever enzyme levels. From what I've read, alcohol affects people differently, so your best bet is to get tested and keep up with it.

Like you, I excercise and eat healthy. I've actually be excercising fairly intensely lately, and I intend to keep that up. Unfortunately, while that keeps off the weight associated with heavy drinking, it doesn't mitigate the effects of the alcohol.

Thanks. I will definitely do that.

It depends on a number of things like what you eat how much, and letting yourself rest after indulging a little too much for recovery. The main thing is other factors like your weight, and what you intaking like packaged food with unhealty oils which they claim or once claimed are good for you.
I exercise more than i ever did,i also have a few more than i should often,I try to eat more raw foods than packaged they are just better for digestion and organ function/recovery.I also use a sauna,go to the gym sometimes, run, bike for miles.Trying to keep more of an alkalinity balance.Ive also gained a wealth of knowledge of foods/herbs which aid what alcohol depletes.
That being said i would like to keep a better average number of beers lower also. I mean with a blood test what are you gonna do after that.

I was a tall lanky one when I was young. I could lift more than I weighed. Which isn't saying much, since my buddy only had 175 pounds of weights. Then,we got a gym membership. I got to where I could do 80lb forearm curls. Then could lift 140lbs with one hand. I'm gunna be 56 at the end of the month. My old work injuries have all come back to haunt me. Compounded by the weight of two. It's getting crowded in here. Hip sockets gone, gout, insomnia, sleep apnea...oh goody. And the doc wants $$ up front.
I'm basically a walking disaster looking for a place to happen. Now my hobby is more like a pain killer. Hard to excersize at this point. Lucky to have a good day where I can walk around th house, let alone shopping. And to think my specialist told me I had double the hormone level than normal. Lost hormones are the same regardless...apparently. Oh nooooo, please God help me! :drunk:
