I have tried this once, but didn't get close. Hoping someone has one that does it justice as my first came out too roasty and not enough IBU's.

My failed attempt:

8.5 lbs 2row
.75 lbs crystal 80L
.75 lbs crystal 120L

FWH - .5 oz Saaz
60 min - .5 oz Cascade
15 min - .5 oz Saaz

Mash Schedule
55C - 15 min
67C - 90 min
76C - 15 min

1054 OG
21 IBU
WLP029 - 3 liter starter
Pitch/ferment at 63F

I'd likely bump up the IBU's and replace the 120 with 100 on my next attempt.

This was listed under the recommended recipe list. Haven't tried this one yet but I'm a big fan of Alaskan Amber. I believe the book Clone Brews has a recipe for an Alaskan Amber clone also. Let us know how your creation tastes.

Alaskan amber is technically an Altbier. I don't have a clone but figured that may help you on your quest!
