Although I'm not a native Texan (moved to TX from MI), I've been to the Alamo twice. The story of the Alamo is pretty amazing, and its great that San Antonio has kept it in tact.
So true, it is a great STORY...but facts are facts...right!?
I am really amazed, (well, not really!!) that Texans don't know their history. Sure, they know one version of it...the one where there were "heroes" (mostly of non-Hispanic origin).
As far as the truth goes, every "Texican" who was at the Alamo was a traitor to the country they swore allegiance to...Mexico! They weren't Americans. And the "volunteers"? Well, I guess they were unpaid mercenaries.
FWIW, I've been to the Alamo two more times than you...
