So true, it is a great STORY...but facts are facts...right!?

I am really amazed, (well, not really!!) that Texans don't know their history. Sure, they know one version of it...the one where there were "heroes" (mostly of non-Hispanic origin).

As far as the truth goes, every "Texican" who was at the Alamo was a traitor to the country they swore allegiance to...Mexico! They weren't Americans. And the "volunteers"? Well, I guess they were unpaid mercenaries.

FWIW, I've been to the Alamo two more times than you...;)

Good advice, thanks, but I've already stated these "facts" at the Alamo...you know that place in San Antonio where the tourists outnumber the locals...:rockin:

Even the guides will confirm the facts for anyone that asks. ;)

I can understand why some people, especially Texans, would get upset...it's kind of like finding out you mom has sex...the truth sucks, but your little brother came from "somewhere"...:eek:

BTW, I used to live in Texarkana, TX, not Arkansas...
 
Not to turn this into the debate forum, but your perspective of the Alamo is kind of like saying that those colonists who rebelled and formed their own free government weren't Patriots, but traitors. The history books are written by the victors.

Unrelated, but the UK has the best holidays. Guy F-a-w-k-e-s (to fool the censor) day is a hell of a party. I'd trade the 4th of July and Thanksgiving both to get it over here.

Well, I can understand why most people never want to debate fact, but you are right...our founding fathers were traitors to their country.

Just because MOST history books are from the "victors" point of view doesn't in fact...make them "fact".

Legends start off as "A long time ago, in a foreign land..."; myths go "...and it came to pass..."; fairy tales, "Once upon a time..."; and the Bible, "In the beginning..." IMO, Columbus captained the first Caribbean Cruiseline, although it wasn't the Love Boat. They're all about the same...;)

And tell me why "Thanksgiving" is an American holiday? If memory serves me correctly (and it does)...there were no "Americans" at the first turkey day or in the year 1621 Anno Domini. Aside from the natives already here all the attendees were English. Which begs the question: "Why isn't Turkey Day celebrated in England"?

It is up here. Though at the proper date. in OCTOBER.

Columbus didn't discover America. He discovered Cuba.

Yep. I wish they would rename Columbus Day as Explorer's Day, but in the end it really doesn't matter as it is a federal holiday and I usually don't have to work. Wish we had more federal Holidays, the months of March, April, June and August are lacking.

...and Jamaica, and Aruba, and the Bahamas...but logic would dictate that you can't really discover a place where people lived already...unless of course I could discover the Playboy mansion...:drunk: ;)

I can agree to an Explorer's Day. Nice touch. :mug:

March - The Ides of March, St. Patrick's Day
April - April Fool's Day, Tax Day
June - Too many wedding's
August - Kids go back to school...:rockin:

Nope, no real holidays here...:mad:
 
Patriots day is in April (the 20th this year). One of the most fun days in Boston all year

Your absolutly right, Texas are all ignorant of the facts, we have a stilted view of everything & Texas is a backwater horrible place to live. SO ALL YOU YANKEES FOR GOD SAKE STOP MOVING HERE, ITS GETTING CROWEDED.
