i recently just purchased a diffusion stone, tubing and filter. couple quick questions. do i need the filter for medical O2? and if im sanitizing my tubing before aeration what happens if the filter gets wet? does a wet filter become damaged? thanks very much

You shouldn't need the filter if you're using pure O2, pure O2 is pretty sanitary to begin with. I don't have a filter, but the ones I've seen say to keep them dry.

agreed. no filter for O2, no reason to sanitize the tubing, just the parts that actually go into the wort.

Great question!!! I was fix'n to ask the same thing.. What's the life span on the filters? $5-$6 bucks aint that much but no need to waste if you can help it.
