advice on bentonite

Any advise on bentonite for clearing?
When is it a good time to add to wine, at secondary racking, a couple days before bottling?
anything helps.

Before you pitch the yeast. That is when many of the wine kits suggest you add Bentonite. The CO2 will keep the clay in suspension and the clay then has lots of time and opportunity to latch on to the fruit particles so when the yeast ceases to produce CO2 and when you have degassed the fruit-clay particles are now so heavy that they will drop to the bottom...
