Just wondering.....suppose you were to brew up an oatmeal stout and wanted to add some flaked oats to your brew, at what point does that get done, and for how long? Thanks!!!

If you're brewing all grain, the oats go in the mash.

If you're doing extract, then steep them in the hot water before adding extract. Remove the oats after a half hour or so, then boil, add extract, and proceed as normal.
