So I got a 14 cf chest freezer for fermenting. I'm going to get a stc-1000 and buy a lasko for a heater.

So my question is I'm assuming I put the heater right inside the chest freezer but do I just run the power cord out the lid or is there another way. I just thought I would lose the seal by going out the lid with the cord.

Just run the cord between the lid and the back of the freezer. When you shut the lid it seal it up quite well. Any remaining gap due to the cord will be so tiny that it won't affect temp much.

I use the Lasko heater as well. Does the job nicely.

^^Yup

I've used this exact setup for a long time, all original equipment and still working like a champ.
