Activator worked great on my first batch so I bought another one for the next batch. It arrived frozen so I let it thaw and kept it in the fridge for a week to settle down. When I cracked the nutrient pack I waited about four hours and got very little swelling of the pack so I pitched some dry yeast along with the yeast from the activator pack and now I am hoping I did the right thing. My first batch was bottled two weeks ago and is starting to gets ome carbonation but is not quite ready yet. Tastes pretty good. Just not much carbonation.

Did I do the right thing by putting both packets of yeast in? Not sure what the best procedure is since I am a noob.

Primary: Midwest Porter
Secondary: empty
Bottled: Midwest Flat Tire
Next: Honey Weizen

Freezing yeast is bad unless you are making a yeast bank. More often than not you'll end up killing the yeast. Pitching a pack of dry was the right thing to do.
