Is how far in debt the American government is, according to a web sight I found. Here's a good question...HOW ARE WE BAILING PEOPLE OUT? Hey Washington....YOU DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY TO SPEND EITHER! Who's going to bail us out? China? Russia? OPEC? Sorry, slight little rant.

Well, it's sort of like if I have 15,000 in credit card debt, what's an xbox gonna do?

Your grandchildren

I reckon we'uns is screwed! I heard on public radio a while back that China owned so many govt. bonds that on paper, they own us.
We go so far for everyone else. We're the watchdog of the world. We feed the world.

We have old people who can't afford medicine. I work every day so that guys my age can sit on their asses and collect a check. The government blows money on crap that doesn't make sense.

Keep voting for that two party system. It really seems to be working.

So if I owe the bank $1,000, its my problem.
If I owe the bank $100,000,000, its the banks problem.
Who's problem is this? All we have to do is drive the U.S. Dollar down to where it is worthless, and problem solved.

OH, Wait, that is what we are doing.

I don't think selling his grandchildren is going to help that much. You might get a couple grand per.

You can't take the grandchildren comment literally. By saying,'Your grandchildren,' he actually means everybody's grandchildren. If EVERYBODY sold them that could actually make a dent. Personally, I don't think it's as effective a strategy as renting, but I'm no economist.

looks like it is going to be a scary movie...

Sorry to flaunt my ignorance
Is that # 9 trillion 637 billion 55 million 355 thousand 838 dollars and 73 cents...

is that accurate?

Well I'm not one to sit idly by. Dammit, I'm gonna do my part to help. I've got the 73 cents covered. Now who else is gonna man up and pitch in?

Seeing as the majority of American citizens are over thier heads in private debt as well, I doubt you are going to get many takers :D

Can somebody spot me a couple grand for the bun in the oven?

He has to be worth that at least. I mean, heck, he's not even been taken off the lot.

The Enron debacle was a wake up for me . Eisenhower warned us in his fairwell address about the dangers of the military industrial complex ( his words ) . Corporations run this country and politicians are just along to make a buck .

You should try here: ÌÔ±¦Íø

That's where all US government funds are headed...;)

Ha. I don;t think he'd have as much value there. He'd be assembled with a mix of foreign and american parts which means he'll come standard with equipment to build the supercomputer but it'd be the size of the Titanic and require a nuclear reactor to power it.

And even then, it'd only run on Vista. :p

Well, that is only about 47,000 per adult in America based on the 2000 census. C'mon, start looking on the bright side of things. At least we aren't adding more to it daily.

I think we are looking at the straw that finally broke the camels back. This country is in a major mess and I don't think it's fixable.

But according to either of the candidates they are going to fix this and get the economy back on track. (Maybe even install some new government programs along the way). </sarcasm>

Honestly this seems like a big matzo ball. If we ever get this deficit paid off. The gubment needs to pass a law that they can not spend money they don't have. I know as an average citizen I don't do that. Why is it a government by the people, for the people... does?

Have no fear, everyone! The fundamentals of our economy are very strong:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykcfPtouNYk]YouTube - 22 Times: McCain Has Said Fundamentals of Economy Are Strong[/ame]

Um... yeah.... that's what McCain meant. McCain was making a comment about capitalism vs. communism. :drunk:

What is it you think he means then?

He did say “fundamentally” and capitalism is the basis or fundament of our economy.

I have problems when campaigners from either side (and they both do it) use half truths (out and out lies) or inferences (like this case) to make their point. It just helps to miss inform the electorate.

He is talking fundamentals right... what would be better socialism or communism.

Me I would rather have capitalism.

I'm very glad that we live in an area of the world where capitalism can be exercised to it's utmost and a true laissez faire market can flourish. Unlike those socialist areas where they use government (re: citizen) funding to prop up failing business models...

:p

Now that is some funny stuff right there!
