Got a gift card from my office for $50. Thoughts on what. Should spend it on that is brewing related? I have most all the equipment I need except maybe a refractometer, but I am not convinced I need one..... Any good deals on ingredients? Thoughts?

Suggestions on books? I have Charlie's books, radical brewing, modern homebrew recipes, brewing classic styles, clone brews, and some older out of print books.....

If you do all-grain, a refractometer will be much more useful than you now realize. There are good deals on pet food containers for grain storage, too. I buy my Oxiclean Free there also. You can get Star San and PBW, but the prices aren't any better than than my LHBS.

I like "Designing Great Beers" by Ray Daniels. Kinda dated, but still a great book.

I've been intending to look into the "Brewing Elements" series of books (Hops, Grain, Yeast, Water).... I hear they're very good.

Yeast by White & Zainasheff has been one of my favorite beer related reads so far......

20 gallon brew pot for 110$ delivered. Concord cookware 80 qt. stockpot. A fantastic pot

Ive made a number of brewing related purchases on amazon. In general, the homebrew stuff is much pricier than a good homebrew site though. So anythign that isnt specifically for homebrew is better to search for on amazon IME
- Cast Iron pipe part for draft tower
- 200 muslin hop bags
- bunch of DME
- silicon trivets for my E-BIAB kettle
- beer glasses
- oil for pump
- reusable plug in dehumidifier for fermentation chamber
- aquarium heater for rope tub setup
- lyles golden syrup
- erlenmyser flasks
- 10lb CO2 cylinder

If you need something thermometer-related, ThermoWorks.com (Thermapen) is running an inventory clearance sale until Jan. 4 on selected items. Some really good deals.

Sell the card to someone you know who uses Amazon all the time, shouldn't be hard to find. Then use the 50 at your home brew store.

This is actually what I use, it works just fine. It's cheaper than so many others on the market b/c it dosen't say "for home brew". But, you will use up some gas on this thing.

I use one too. Gas usage is much less if you boil at a reasonable level instead of cranking it way up. The only time I crank it is when I drop my immersion chiller in. Takes about 20-30 seconds to come back to a boil, then turn it back down.

Northern brewer and Midwest are on there. Plus they have a lot of stuff you can buy that aren't brewing related. Reloading, running, food saver vacuum sealers, etc.
