My favorite reason: It saves money (potentially)
I'll have to brew another 300 batches to recoup my "investment", but I can see it saving money in the long run.

No seriously, I did save money even at the beginning over the cost of BMC, but I stopped keeping track because it is a hobby and not a money-saving move.
