I keep ending up with around4 gallons after boil can i boil another gallon cool it down and add it to the beer?

I deliberately come under a little so I can top the kettle off after flame out to my exact volume, 5.5 gallons. This also drops the wort a few degrees so it's a little less work on the chiller.

If you try to top off your fermenter to 5 gallons you may need to account for any volume left in the kettle. If you left about 2 quarts, back it out along with an additional 25% because it was really a concentrated wort.

my 06 was 1.068 and it was supposed to be 10.62 now its like 1.050

If it was 4 gallons at 1.068, 5 gallons will be 1.054. Now if it was 4.5 gallons at 1.068, that would yield 1.062 at 5 gallons.
