Not sure what to use these for but as a man *ahem - lower voice two octaves* a MAN - I gotta say, these two gallon Home Depot buckets are pretty cute.

I picked up a couple over the weekend for $1.81, but they're on sale for $1 right now - I think they're a new-ish product.

I've been using clean Homer buckets to measure my grain into before transferring to my grain mill. If I knew what I'd use these for I'd buy more at $1.

im sure milling grain is fine, but for adding hot liquids I wouldn't even bother

I have a couple 5-gallon Homer buckets I use for storage and for sanitizing.
I wouldn't use them for anything hot, though I have emptied my mash tun into it when cleaning up.
I'm sure I could find *some* use for smaller ones.
I have a bunch of others for non-brewing uses too.

I go to my local bakeries and get food-grade buckets and lids for free, or sometimes they charge $1. They usually have 2, 3, 4 and 5 gallons sizes, with lids. The get them all the time, full of sugar, icing, frosting, molasses, shortening. If the Homer buckets don't specifically say food grade, I wouldn't use them for long-term liquid storage (i.e. wort).

Walmart sells 5 gallon white food grade buckets for $2.50 in the paint department. Lids are $1.25 or you can find lids with ring gaskets for $2.00 and Lowes. Gaskets are around 25 cents if you buy them at a box store. I use these for doing 2-4 gallon brews because my local bakery no longer gives or sells their buckets.
