1st Lauter Tun Build

Planning to build my first Lauter Tun. 36q Coleman extreme cooler. I have copper pipe to use, but unsure what size to use, and what direction do the slits face.

1/2in pipe is what I use and make the slits on the bottom perpendicular to the drainage.

Have been looking through different ways to pipe it and this is the one that I have come back to.

Is this a good choice
