I have a few questions on my 1st cyser.

Recipe: 5 gallons
4 gal cider
5# clover honey
1# dates
2# brown sugar
Wyeast sweet mead
DAP
Top up water.

1. Does this belong in the cider forum?

2. When should I transfer it off the yeast to secondary?
It has been about 1 month, their isn't airlock activity. I don't have a OG, but I can take a gravity reading (just waiting to see if I should bother yet).
3. When transferring, should I cold crash it? The cyser is foggy with the yeast starting to settle out. The dates are floating on top and it looks like they are just skins now.

Thanks

Rack ASAP to get it off of those dates before they decompose further.

Then, let it sit and clear in the new vessel. No need to cold crash or anything yet, but do take a SG reading when racking to see where you are.

Thanks Yooper. I racked today, tastes good. I had 1.020 for gravity reading before adding top off water. I know I should have taken it after. What I'll do it make sure to take 2 readings a few days apart from each other when I'm ready to transfer again.
