Hi all,

Here's some photos of the restoration of my 1947 Philco kegerator.

What I started with. I got it from the Swedish equivalent to craigslist for the price of the add ($15). It still had the original receipt and manual.

Stripped down and the old insulation removed. I also replaces all the wiring, the thermostat and the mechanical relay with a new electronic one.

New insulation.

I had to fix some dents.

The door is primed and a white striped is applied.

The door is wrapped with car wrapping vinyl foil.

The rest is wrapped too.

The door handle was broken and must be partly remade and painted.

Done!

It fits two 9,45 liter cornies and some bottles. That fits me well since my normal batch size is 10 liters.

Cheers,
Mattias

That thing is killer! You have some skills...looks American Restoration-esque! (a reality show in the US where they specialize in restoring stuff like that)

This is an awesome idea, and I am truly impressed!
I have a 1950 Westinghouse I'm going to eventually fix up like this, and now I might have to consider using the foil wrap!
How much was it compared to paint?

Thanks! The Discovery Channel shows it here too, and it's one of my favorites.

Edit: History Channel, not Discovery Channel

Thanks. The foil was 1000 SEK, which is about $150. But the swedish krona is currently quite strong compared to the dollar, so my guess is that it would be some $100 in the US.

I guess buying the paint would cost about the same, if you go for real car paint. The main reason for me to go with the foil was that I have very litte experience from painting. But perhaps I'll tear off the foil some day and try to paint it, because the foil didn't turn out 100 percent perfect if you look closely.

Cheers,
Mattias

Here's my Crosley project fridge. I'm getting a new compressor installed next weekend (I bought it non-functional), cromeing the white handle and logo, then installing the shanks and it's done!

Looks awesome! Mine didn't work either when I got it, but I just had to change the start relay.
